666 Overview - what is it really?

666 is often referred to as the "mark of the beast" and is documented in chapter 13 of Revelations in the New Testament of the Bible. The text states that a new world leader (referred to as the antichrist or the beast) forces all people to accept the "mark of the beast". Without the mark people will be unable to buy or sell. Here is the actual text from Revelation 13 (NIV) that describes this:

Why would the mark be necessary?

There are several reasons an automated identification system would be useful today. The technology of encoding identification data in living animals is already being used by the SPCA in cats and dogs as a microchip implant. For a new world leader that must present solutions to widespread problems this may make sense. Consider the following benefits that an identification system with the ability to track people and financial transactions like this could provide:

• A better method to track and identify people could reduce "stolen identity" cases.
• Help in locating individuals that are wanted for crimes.
• All financial transactions would be traceable, which could reduce crime. Reduction of cash transactions that cannot be traced.
• Reduction in fraud caused by invalid financial transactions such as credit card fraud.
• A world wide money system would simplify transactions in the new world economy.

Barcodes and 666:

Sure, it is possible to embed "666" in a barcode. We believe that to do so would be obvious though. Barcode scanners are easily available, and anyone could scan the barcode to determine its contents. We feel that an identification system of this type is better implemented with RFID systems such as the ones currently used to identify lost pets.
