IDAutomation Data Matrix Product Updates

Issue:  Second to the last character is dropped in Data Matrix C40 or TEXT modes

This problem only occurs when encoding certain combinations of uppercase and lower case letters in C40 or TEXT modes of some Data Matrix products; the problem does not occur in ASCII or Binary encoding modes. When this error occurs, the second to the last character is dropped from the scanned symbol.

This problem was corrected as of August 15th, 2005 in the following products that include the Data Matrix symbology: The problem did not occur in any of our other products. If you have an active Priority Support agreement, log back into our online store and go to Account located in the upper right hand corner. On the Account screen, there will be a list of Recent Orders with a summary of what each order contains if there is more than one. Click on the "View Order" button of the order that contains the software to download. The download will be located under Digital Goods section of the online Invoice.

Crystal UFL and Native Windows DLL

The products affected are the Code 128 Barcode Fonts that use Code128Auto Functions and UCC128 Functions in the Crystal UFL and the Native Windows Font DLL distributed from June 2005 to September 1, 2005 with file names and dates as follows:

  • U25IDAutomation.dll 6-22-2005 or any date before September, 2005
  • IDAutomationNativeFontEncoder.dll 7-08-2005 or any date before September, 2005

Under rare conditions, certain barcode data will not return the correct check digit, therefore creating an incorrect barcode that will not scan. To reproduce this problem, encode the following data with the Code 128 Auto function:
00180329860300003191

The data returned should be:
2#=v#?{

However, if the data returned is:
2#=v#?{
Then the problem exists in the component.

To obtain the update, please download the latest version from the links below.

Our Native Windows Bar Code DLL has no COM or MFC dependencies and can be used in any application or development environment that can call a function from a Windows DLL. Our DLL contains functions for POSTNET, PLANET, Code 3 of 9, Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 128, UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8, UCC-128 and MSI / Plessy barcode fonts. This font DLL also contains functions for the IDAutomation Universal Barcode Font Advantage.
