The Hand Held Products IT3800 PDF417 CCD Long Range Barcode Scanner delivers fast, accurate reading of PDF417 barcodes as well as all standard linear symbologies. CCD barcode scanners read PDF417 barcodes quicker than laser scanners because of their fast scanning rates. Specially designed hardware and firmware are optimized and combined with a bright aiming line for exceptional performance in virtually any environment. Read the PDF417 barcode label by sweeping the scanner up or down over the code to quickly gather, decode and output the data to the host system. This PDF417 barcode scanner offers a full five year warranty, and is an excellent choice for office and postal automation, reading drivers license barcodes, supply chain management, and vehicle registration applications.

Scans Small Barcodes - scans barcodes printed as small as 5 mils.
Durability - can withstanding multiple drops to concrete (up to 25) from 5 feet and it has a wide temperature range operation. The design of this scanner allows it to sit firmly on a flat surface such as a table or desk.

Operators Manual - a complete operators manual is provided here for this scanner that includes barcodes on the pages of the manual that are used to enable or disable features in the scanner simply by scanning the barcode. The entire operator's manual is not shipped with the order; therefore, it may be printed it out if the default settings in the Quick Start Guide need to be changed.
USB Setup - Simple setup, requires user to scan PC or MAC USB "plug and play" barcode in User Manual, Section 1-11.
Free software included: With each purchase of this product, a license is provided for the use of IDAutomation's Free Barcode Font, Free Barcode Label Design Application and the Barcode Scanner ASCII String Decoder. Generally, these free products may be used by non-profit organizations only. However, when this scanner is purchased from IDAutomation, a license is granted without this limitation according to the license agreement. The software may be downloaded once the purchase is completed.

Lab Test Results:
This scanner performed exceptionally well in IDAutomation lab tests. For a CCD scanner, it focuses very well on barcodes and the USB interface makes it very easy to use. This scanner read small linear barcodes such as IDAutomation's Code 39 barcode font and Code 128 bar code font when printed as small as 6 points with a 600 DPI printer. The scanner also reads small PDF417 2D codes well - IDAutomation was able to scan the PDF417 Font when printed at just 3 points. These scanners read PDF417 much better than laser scanners that can read PDF417 (and not very many laser scanners can). To scan PDF417 barcodes with a CCD scanner, it is necessary to move the scanner's aiming beam from the top to the bottom of the barcode while keeping the aiming beam horizontal with the top. If interested in quick, omni-directional, point and click readings of PDF417 barcodes consider the high quality 2D Imagers. This scanner works very well on small linear barcodes also.
