Product Overview and Features

Large amounts of text and data can be stored efficiently when using the PDF417 barcode symbology. Because the PDF417 font uses Reed Solomon error correction, the symbol can withstand some damage without causing loss of data. This high level of error correction decreases chances of read errors and is far more advanced than one dimensional barcodes with check digits. Up to about 850 characters can be dependably encoded and read with the PDF417 barcode symbology.

Types of PDF 417 Supported:

In addition to the PDF 417 font, this package supports MacroPDF, which allows additional data to be encoded by dividing the data into multiple symbols and Truncated PDF, which decreases the horizontal size of the symbol by two columns. MicroPDF417 is similar to PDF 417, however, it is only provided in IDAutomation's RSS products.

This advanced PDF417 font uses IDAutomation Vertical Interleaved Technology™ which provides improved performance and printing at smaller X dimensions than competitors’ products. The design of the font allows accurate printing from any point size when used with compatible scanners and printers. For example, when printed with a 600 DPI Laserjet at 4 points, the symbol consistently scans with the PDF417 CCD Scanner. The font should be printed at 8 to 10 points for most applications.

Multiple Encoders Provided:

Multiple encoders provide more application integration options. It is necessary to use an encoder because of the complexity of the symbology. In this package, IDAutomation provides font encoders and graphic encoders. Font encoders return a text string, that when printed or displayed with the PDF417 font, create the PDF417 barcode symbol.   • The Developer License allows one (1) developer royalty-free distribution up to 10,000 user licenses.
  • The 5 Developer License grants the rights of the Developer License for up to five (5) developers and 20,000 user licenses.
  • The Unlimited Developer License grants the rights of the Developer License for an unlimited number of developers and an unlimited number of user licenses.
  • The Small Company Developer License grants the rights of the Developer License to qualifying organizations.
  • The Single User License allows use of the Software for one (1) user in your organization. However, if the Software is used in connection with a high speed printer that prints over 55 pages per minute or a system (including all hardware, printer and software) having a cost totaling over $50,000 USD or equivalent in a foreign currency, a Developer License is required.
