The 4600g General Purpose Area Barcode Imager from Hand Held Products combines the versatility of area imaging with the speed and cost of linear scanning for retail and commercial applications. Powered by Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 5.0, the 4600g is full featured, fast, and cost effective.

An increasing number of retail and commercial applications are now using much more than linear barcodes. Grocery stores are beginning to use EAN/UCC composite codes, PDF417 codes are used for age verification and new postal barcodes are used to sort mail. The omni-directional reading capability of this area barcode imager allows fast and easy reading of all these types of barcodes and more. Equipped with Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0, the 4600g provides exemplary image quality and image transfer speed. With no moving parts, the 4600g is as durable as it is versatile. Whether acquiring a signature as proof-of-delivery, capturing a picture for identification, or even storing data electronically, image capture has become a mainstream requirement and will continue to be an important part of current and future solutions.

Free software included - With each purchase of the 4600g General Purpose Area Barcode Imager, a license is provided for the use of IDAutomation's Free Barcode Font and Free Barcode Label Design Application. These free products may only be used by non-profit organizations, although a license is granted without this limitation according to the license agreement when this scanner is purchased from IDAutomation. The software may be downloaded once the purchase is complete.

2D Print Quality Assessment Feature:

After enabling the two-dimensional Print Quality Assessment feature, IDAutomation was able to validate the quality of printed 2D barcodes including Data Matrix, Postnet and Intelligent Mail symbols with the 4600g. Below is the output received from the imager after enabling this feature and scanning some slightly defective barcodes that still scanned properly.

If this scanner is used to verify or transmit lower ASCII control characters and functions, such as what is documented in the MaxiCode FAQ, the Control + ASCII Mode must be enabled by scanning the barcode below. Reading Drivers Licenses:

Testing in IDAutomation's lab concluded that Florida Driver Licenses were easily read with this model imager. However, please be advised that many states encrypt this data and it may not be readable without the encryption key that only that state can supply. Military ID's are all encrypted and will require the encryption key that only the military can supply.
