The Hand Held Products 4600r Retail 2D Imager provides fast, reliable reading of linear and 2D barcodes with its omni-directional reading capability, making it ideal for routine POS scanning applications. In addition to its ability to read all 2D barcodes, such as PDF417, MicroPDF417, MaxiCode, Data Matrix, QR Code, Aztec, this imager also can capture digital images, which delivers superior performance, versatility, and value at the point-of-service.

The 4600r also delivers exceptional reading performance of PDF417 codes as seen on most drivers’ licenses* in the United States and Canada. This performance enables the 4600r to be used for auto-populating electronic forms (e-forms), used for credit card applications, extended warranties, and returned goods processes. Verification of personal identification also enables age validation for the sale of restricted goods, such as alcohol and tobacco.

The 4600r’s unique Streaming Presentation™ Mode feature eliminates the need for operators to stop the line and hold an item in front of the scanner until it reads the barcode. In addition, the 4600r’s Advanced Illumination System is optimized for high-quality applications that require presentation or on-the-fly scanning and the reading of highly reflective items, such as laminated ID cards.

Powered by Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 5.0, the 4600r takes digital pictures which allows the consumers to electronically capture, store, and retrieve any visibly recognizable information, including signatures, pharmacy prescriptions, and forms of personal identification. Replacing traditional paper-based work flow with digital image capture allows the 4600r to deliver the industry’s best return on investment.

Testing in IDAutomation's lab concluded that Florida Driver Licenses were easily read with this model imager.  However, please be advised that many states encrypt this data and it may not be readable without the encryption key that only that state can supply. Military ID's are all encrypted and will require the encryption key that only the military can supply.
