The 4800i Industrial 2D Area Imager, powered by Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 5.0, decodes faster, farther, and future-proofs your investment. Whether the requirement is reading standard linear barcodes or 2D symbologies, the 4800i can read them. If the application requires signature capture, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), or even digital photography, this industrial imager can do it. The advanced imaging optics software in the 4800i quickly and easily determines the image content and transfers it to the host system.

The 4800i can be used for various applications from circuit board manufacturing to package delivery tracking. In addition, bar codes, images, and signature capture can provide positive proof of delivery. If there is a discrepancy that needs to be reviewed by a production supplier, images can be captured and quickly transferred for immediate review and resolution, saving time and money.

The 4800i is very rugged with shock-absorbing rubber to protect the imager from dozens of 6.5 feet (2 meter) drops to concrete. Since many application environments like warehouse and transportation exhibit airborne dust and rain, this imager is sealed so these elements will not degrade performance. In addition to an IP54 enclosure specification, the 4800i is backed by an industry leading 5-year warranty.

Lab Results and Evaluation for IT4800i:

After scanning with the IT4800i, IDAutomation found that the IT4800i has a focal point of about 5 inches and is designed to read images 10 mils and greater. IDAutomation was impressed with the light weight and very fast reading of the scanner, even with large Data Matrix and PDF417 symbols. The IT4800 industrial imager was able to dependably read PDF417 and linear barcodes printed with the ActiveX Control and DLL with an X dimension as small as .015CM and the Data Matrix ActiveX Control as small as .025CM. It also dependably scanned DataMatrix symbols printed with Data Matrix Font at 3 points which is an X dimension of .025CM or 10 mils. If interested in reading POSTNET barcodes, this imager will be able to meet that need.

If the intention is to use these scanners to read the barcodes on the back of Driver Licenses, please be advised that many states encrypt this data and it may not be readable without the encryption key that only that state can supply. Military ID's are also encrypted and will require the encryption key that only the military can supply.
