The Metrologic MS1690 Focus Barcode Image Reader is a high-performance hand-held area imager. This omni-directional scanner decodes virtually all standard barcodes including Linear, RSS, PDF417, microPDF, EAN/UCC Composite, Matrix and Postal barcodes regardless of orientation. For capturing and transmitting barcode images, Focus combines a high-resolution CMOS sensor with an extremely powerful processor that provides a wide array of outputs at high rates of speed.

For years, Metrologic has been designing and manufacturing fixed-position industrial imaging systems that are used by some of the world's leading parcel handling companies, distribution centers, and postal services. Metrologic has taken that core technology and optical design expertise and developed Focus, a hand-held device built to endure today's toughest work environments, packed with the most complete set of features, ease of use, and stylish, modern design.

Free Software Included:
With each purchase, a license is provided for the use of IDAutomation's Free Barcode Font, Free Barcode Label Design Application and the Barcode Scanner ASCII String Decoder. These free products may only be used by non-profit organizations, although a license is granted without this limitation according to the license agreement when this scanner is purchased from IDAutomation. The software may be downloaded once the purchase is complete.

Encoded Data Verification:
This scanner may be used to verify or transmit lower ASCII control characters and functions, such as what is documented in the MaxiCode FAQ with IDAutomation's free Barcode Scanner ASCII String Decoder.

When designing the MS1690 Focus Barcode Image Reader, the goal was to leapfrog the competition and develop a new set of standards that provided users with unique, time saving, and technological advancements, meeting the needs of today's marketplace and for years to come. Metrologic accomplished this challenge and have been able to introduce features such as a depth-of-field that ranges from 0"to 9.5"for standard 0.33 mm (13 mil) barcodes, stand detection that automatically switches the hand held scanner to a presentation scanner once it is placed in the stand, and the object detection sensor that instantly initiates scanning via CodeGate once an object is within the scanner’s field of view. CodeGate is an intuitive scanning system that is ideal for all scanning applications, including menu scanning, Point-of-Sale, document processing, and inventory, just to name a few.

The FocusBT was originally designed for the healthcare industry, ideal for bedside medication verification and pharmaceutical check out counter. Now POS systems are finding the FocusBT to be of value with the age verification application integration, front end point-of-sale and light inventory capabilities. When cashing out at registers, the ability to automatically switch from presentation mode to hand held makes this scanner very versatile. The FocusBT has two removable battery packs allowing for 24/7 scanning. The batteries have power switches which allow the user to completely power off the unit for longer battery life.

 

If the intention is to use this scanner is to read the barcodes on the back of Driver Licenses, be advised that many states encrypt this data and it may not be readable without the encryption key that only that state can supply. Military ID's are also encrypted and will require the encryption key that only the military can supply.
