Scan barcodes off screens & mobile phones
Tutorial:
To scan barcodes from the LCD and LED screen or mobile phone such as the iPhone,
Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone, it is suggested to use camera based barcode scanner, such as the
IDAutomation SC5 Scanner (not as well with the SC1500 model) or the
IDAutomation 2D Scanner (recommended) should be used. These scanners provide the capability to
read barcodes from LCD & LED monitors provided the barcode is created
at the proper resolution to match the screen.
Scanning from the screen may also be used to easily and securely transfer
and reformat text from one web application to another with the
QR-Code
or Data Matrix
barcode types.
- The following
web based barcode generation components easily create barcodes
at the proper resolution of the screen by default:
- ASP Barcode
Server for IIS
- Online Barcode Creator
- Free
QR-Code Barcode Generator
- Dynamic Barcode Generator Service
- ASP.NET
Server Control
- Java Barcode
Servlet
- Plug the
IDAutomation 2D Scanner (preferred) or the
IDAutomation SC5 Scanner into an available USB port.
The
IDAutomation 2D Scanner will decode barcodes from the screen
quicker because it takes a picture of the screen and decodes it
in memory, as seen in this
video.
- Open a text editor or word processor and scan the barcode. The data scanned
will appear at the cursor as if it was typed from the keyboard.
- This video
demonstrates the transfer of data from one web application to another without
the security concerns of actually transmitting the data over the wire. The video
uses the Free
QR-Code Barcode Generator on a mobile phone and a flat screen PC monitor.
