How to read a barcode from the LCD monitor screen with a Barcode
Scanner
To scan barcodes from the LCD monitor screen, a camera based scanner (often
referred to as a linear imager) must be used, such as the
IDAutomation Plug 'n Play USB Barcode Scanner. This scanner has the capability to read
barcodes from an LCD monitor provided the barcode is created at the proper
resolution to match the screen, which is usually 96dpi. Scanning from the screen
may be used to easily transfer and reformat text from one web application to
another.
- The following
web based
barcode generation components easily create barcodes at the proper
resolution of the screen by default:
- Plug the
IDAutomation USB Barcode Scanner into an available USB port.
- Open a text editor window, such as Notepad, and place it on top
of the window with the barcode. When the barcode is scanned, the data should appear in
Notepad as in the example below.
