1. IDAutomation Formulas for Crystal Reports

If you are distributing your report, we recommend our new IDAutomation Formulas for Crystal Reports, which allows distribution of a Crystal Report without the need for the UFL, or any other DLLs.  Advanced Crystal developers can also create Report Custom Functions from our formulas and place them into the Repository of Custom Functions.

 2. HHP IT4800 Industrial 2D Area Imager

HHP has discontinued one of their most popular Imagers, the IT4410.  They have released a new version, the HHP IT4800 Industrial 2D Area Imager.  This imager can read
conventional linear bar codes, postal codes and 2D matrix symbologies, as well as signature capture, OCR or digital photography.  The Print Quality Assessment capability that was one of the main features for the IT4410 will be implemented in the new IT4800 by mid March or April.

3. Code 128 and Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Advantage Packages

Our December 2003 release solves an issue when using Windows applications, such as MS Office or Crystal, that our Code 128 and Interleaved 2 of 5 fonts have appeared first in the drop-down list with the "@" symbol prior to the font name, as well as correctly further down in the list. If this @font is selected, it will not work properly and will most likely create spaces, horizontal lines or other unexpected errors in the barcodes.

These @fonts are found when using multiple character set fonts in Windows 2000 and Windows XP and are there by design and only appear in applications that support them. The reason for the @fonts is for setting vertical Asian text to be rotated counterclockwise by 90 degrees. Because barcode fonts should not be displayed in a vertical fashion, we have eliminated this ability and thereby removed the @fonts from the dropdown menu.

If you have an active Priority Support and Upgrade Subscription, please contact us with your order ID number and we will send you the updated download link. To reactivate your Priority Support and Upgrade Subscription, please visit here.

4. USPS Function in Font Tools for 2004 Requirement

As of January 10, 2004, the USPS required special services barcodes (used in delivery confirmation and signature confirmation) to be printed in the UCC / EAN 128 format. To assist our font users with this requirement, we have added a function to some of our font tools that will format this barcode to our Code 128 fonts. More information about this is documented in our Code 128 FAQ located at:
http://www.idautomation.com/code128faq.html#USPS_EAN128
