The MS100U barcode wand is best utilized with low reading volume
and is a cost effective solution. The advanced optics and electronic
design convert bar code labels into a high-quality digital signal. Its
shape gives the MS100U the comfort and handling of a conventional ink
pen. Just drag the tip of the wand across the bar code in either direction
and listen for the "good read" beep to know the data has been successfully
captured.
The MS100U wand comes in two connections: USB or PS2. This wand is
perfect for laptops because of its small design, making it easy for
portability. It contains its own built-in decoder where information
scanned by the wand appears as if it had been typed from the keyboard.

Product Test Results:The benefits of bar code wands include the small size of
the wand, portability and the ability to read long barcodes. However,
barcode wands can be more difficult to use than laser scanners or imagers.
Wands read barcodes by dragging and touching the tip to the actual barcode
slowly from left to right at an angle and velocity recommended in the
user manual. The tip of the wand must stay on the barcode when dragging
it across to get a successful read, therefore,
it is not very good at reading very short barcodes of .25" or less in
height.
Alternatively, a scanner such as the
IDAutomation Plug 'n Play Scanner reads the barcode instantly
by positioning it over the barcode and pulling the trigger. If the wand
is not the best product for implementation, please review the list of
other
USB scanners and imagers.
