MaxiCode Barcode Fonts

NOTE: At this time, the implementation of the MaxiCode barcode font has been suspended indefinitely. However, IDAutomation has the following products available which include the MaxiCode font: Java Products, ActiveX Controls, ASP.NET Maxicode Web Control, .NET Linear + 2D Control Package and MaxiCode Barcode Image Generator

MaxiCode is a 2D (two-dimensional) matrix barcode symbology containing hexagon modules in a 1" square area. A barcode imager or camera is necessary to read the printed symbol. MaxiCode is designed with two selectable levels of error correction capability. The MaxiCode bracode font is used to encode address and customer specified data on shipping packages which are scanned on high-speed conveyors. Maxicode barcodes are currently used by UPS (United Parcel Service).

The encoding and decoding process of Maxicode is very complex. To print a Maxicode barcode font, the data to be encoded will first need to be formatted with IDAutomation's Maxicode encoder. The encoder will return a character string that, when combined with IDAutomation's Maxicode Font, will create a proper barcode symbol.

NOTE: At this time, the implementation of the MaxiCode barcode font has been suspended indefinitely. However, if IDAutomation decides to develop the font, this page will be updated with the new information.

The following MaxiCode barcode products are available from IDAutomation at this time:

• MaxiCode ActiveX Control for use in Visual Basic, C++, Microsoft Access and Excel.
• The Java Linear + 2D Package contains the MaxiCode JavaBean, Library, Servlet and Applet.
• The ASP.NET Maxicode Server Control is a web application control for creating MaxiCode bar codes in VB .NET or C# .NET web applications.
• The Linear + 2D ASP Barcode Server for IIS creates server-side MaxiCode JPEG symbols on web pages from Microsoft® Internet Information Server.
• MaxiCode Barcode Image Generator - is an end-user application that creates bar-code images files and can paste MaxiCode barcodes into many Windows applications.
• .NET Linear + 2D Control Package - create and print MaxiCode barcodes from local Microsoft Visual Studio.NET applications.

It is important that printed barcodes be tested with a barcode scanner. If a barcode scanner is not readily available, IDAutomation sells MaxiCode Scanners.
