ASP Barcode Generator Script Overview

The ASP Barcode Generator is a server-side script that adds streaming barcode generation capability to any website that supports ASP scripts. Once installed, barcode images are generated in memory on the server and streamed directly to the client without saving any temp files on the server. This implementation is compatible with all web browsers and is easy to embed in HTML or web applications as an image with the <IMG> tag.

Each ASP script file is provided in pure ASP source code form, so it may be used natively and modified or integrated as necessary. Each symbology is contained within a single file, which allows extremely fast barcode generation with very little overhead. 100,000 barcodes were generated in less than 70 seconds with a load test script on a single core Pentium 4 webserver running at 2.4 GHZ.

Barcode images are generated as simple black and white bit-mapped images that are very small in size compared to JPEG or GIF images. The average size of the generated barcode is usually less than 2KB. Because the barcode image is retrieved from a URL, it is compatible with many other development environments and operating systems that can access the internet.
